MPs bought and paid for with our money

Our Members of Parliament are bought and paid for once again

As Gordon Brown's henchmen struggle to twist the arms of MPs who have genuine misgivings and real objections to locking people up without charge for 42 days we also see opportunists and weaklings exploiting the situation for their own gain.

If you believe something is wrong and know with all your heart that it's wrong you should be willing to stand up for it even when the going gets tough. The weaklings put their needs first and Gordon's obsession means he is willing to pay their price.

You want money channeled into your pet project - that's the price - and Gordon will pay it. After all it's only public money, the taxpayers hard-earned cash. There's plenty more where that came from, motorists can't avoid paying car tax or buying fuel and anyone who likes a drink can't help but pay either.

You want extra concessions for some group like the cockle pickers of the Outer Hebrides? You got it.

That's bribery and corruption dressed up as democracy in action.

Yes, MPs are bought and paid for with our tax and there's not a lot we can do about it until the election.
