Nick Clegg dares to say what many of us think

Wednesday, 08 July 2009 20:53

Nick Clegg has become the first politician to say what many of us think, 'Lives are being thrown away in Afghanistan'.

It is shocking to hear of young men who are only 18 being killed. This week it has been on a daily basis. This is Tony Blair's legacy. Not only are we paying in the blood of our young men - each of whom has a grieving set of parents, but we're also paying from our wallets.

This is a total waste of tax pounds and young lives.

The sooner that David Cameron wakes up and says the same thing the sooner we will save a crowd of young men. Let's not forget that these are fit, able men who have choosen the armed forces as a career. They are not the unemployed layabouts and useless mouths that are staying at home.

Despite what Bob Ainsworth, Defence Secretary, say, Afghanisan IS another Vietnam. There is no way that the war is going to be won, our politicians need to get their heads around that and get their act together.

Well said Clegg! Hear! Hear!

Political pigmies indeed

Tuesday, 30 June 2009 06:30

It was Geoff Randall of the Daily Telegraph who branded Gordon Brown and his cronies 'political pigmies' - how right he was.

Bill Rammell, Member of Parliament for Harlow, Minister of State for the Armed Forces, was interviewed on the 'Today' programme on Radio 4 earlier this morning. What a startlingly bad performance that was.

Mr Rammell's stress and unease was obvious as his speed of delivery steadily increased and his errs and errs increased in frequency, so did his use of the giveaway 'look!'.

When asked questions, Billie started 'Err - Look!' especially in answer to a direct question that should have a straight response. We're used to 'non responses' from this government, pure spin and evasion is their hallmark. Bill Rammell has been in the job for 3 weeks since the last reshuffle, let's hope that he's going to do a good job; performance so far gets a 'let's wait and see', with a mark out of ten being 5 for delivery.

Ten out of ten for supporting the government line, but what would you expect?

It seems that in one year the cost of two warships has risen from 3.9 billion pounds to 5 billion pounds, 25%. Bill Rammell waffled on delaying would put up the cost and had been done to stay within constraints blah blah. Same with the Trident replacement.

A powerful group of former defence staff, including Robertson, says we can't afford much of the equipment the government wants to buy, and what's more it's not fit for purpose. Why doesn't Billie and his mates in Downing St listen; the answer is that they are ready and willing to throw any amount of our money at their pet projects now, safe in the knowledge that they are unlikely to have to delivery them. But what they will be able to do is slag off the next government when Labour's silly schemes are axed.

Gordon Brown is wasting our money and future, getting us into more debt that will take years to pay off. He twists the truth - George Orwell had a word for it, blackwhite.

Words dictate how we think

Sunday, 28 June 2009 11:38

Freedom fighters or terrorists

harmless pranksters or heartless vandals

road traffic accidents or collisions

Words really do dictate how we think about things and nowhere is this more true than the spin put on stories by the UK's labour government.

Let's face facts, government spending is just that, spending. You can call it 'investment' but it's no more an investment than buying a car. An investment is something that you can cash in and get back what you put in, and you expect to get back more. Buying a car is NEVER an investment, it's a bottomless pit for money.

So it is with government spending. There is no return on doling out money to single mothers, the unemployed or workshy. A handout is a handout and will never be repaid either in cash or in kind.

12 years of labour government has brought us . . .

big government - huge government, all to be paid for by our taxes

mass surveillance of the population

laws that govern every aspect of our lives, including the words we can use and the thoughts we can think

social unrest - now surfacing in Northern Ireland, but seething and ready to burst in many towns and cities

Nu Labour or Old Labour it's still totalitarian control of every aspect of our lives with big brother watching everything you do and ready to stop and search you without reason.
