More government data loses

The scale of Whitehall incompetence is surfacing as more government departments are forced to admit losing sensitive personal and private data about citizens.

This is hugely embarassing for Gordon Brown and his whole government, it clearly shows that they are not capable of looking after the information they already have. It's time to call a halt to the idea of identity cards. The sheer scale of the task of gathering the personal and confidential information about everyone in the UK, then keeping it secure is so far beyond anything that this government is capable of it should be laughed at. Yet people are so gullible that they seem to be taken in by assurances given by Gordon Brown and his ministers. These are the same people who did a U-turn on many of their manifesto committments we should all take everything they say with a tablespoon of salt.

Letting the government have you personal information is like sending it on the back of a postcard - it's that secure.
