When will politicians listen ?

Q: What is the difference between a medieval monarch and the 21st century government?

A: Virtually none!

Medieval monarchs were surrounded by advisers and hangers-on who expected hand-outs and generally got them. The king or queen had little regard for the people because there was precious little the general population could do to get rid of their monarch. Despite the hundreds of years that have passed our government is still surrounded by 'special advisers' and other expensive hangers-on (Air Miles Andy comes to mind). There is almost nothing the people can do to get rid of the government and the people's views are ignored.

September 2011 has seen the Labour party telling us that they got it wrong when they let millions of foreigners into the UK. So now we're stuck with all those people who are here, bringing in their dependents and breeding like crazy. What is anyone doing about it?

Nothing.

We still let dependents in, we still pay benefits to new arrivals, the list goes on and on.

The sad facts are that our elected representatives don't listen. Every few years they tell us a whole pack of lies about what they are going to do, but as soon as they are elected they do what they like, and like those long distant monarchs there's very little we can do about it.
