Labour's micromanagement fixation
Friday, 21 November 2008 08:23

UK Labour politicians have a micromanagement fixation. They can't help themselves, they just have to poke their noses into the day to day running of businesses or utilities.

A couple of recent examples will illustrate their problem . . .

Gordon Brown could not help commenting on the BBC's Brand-Ross fiasco.

Now Scottish Secretary Jim Murphy calls for the BBC's dancing judges to go in the Sergeant dancing debacle.

Politicians can and should have their own private opinions, but they are the first to tell us that they want a private life and that what they do in private (eg sexual orientation) has nothing to do with their public personna.

They should keep the same rule about their opinions on trivia too. However, for compulsive complicators and control freaks that's hard.
