Phony wars - terror and drugs
Wednesday, 30 July 2008 12:11

Both of them, the so called 'war on terror' and 'war on drugs' are make believe.

They allow government to take more and more control of our daily lives, create insecurity and fear - then the government steps in and says 'we are the ones who can protect you - but you will have to . . . give up your freedoms'.

Here are some examples . . .

  • When the IRA was bombing the UK mainland we were not searched at airports, but the threat was greater. Do we really think that taking bottles of water off people makes us safer?
  • The drug problem could be solved overnight be leagalising then regulating and taxing the products like tobacco. No massive profits for organised crime syndicates so less crime all round.
  • Cut benefits, taxes and government handouts - people should work for what they get
